People bang on a lot about London’s “hidden gems” and it’s a term I’m sceptical of – but I’m pretty sure Freightliners Farm actually is one of those rare undiscovered wonder-destinations. I’ve lived on the same road as this tiny, adorable working farm since 2013 and only went for the first time last year!
I really love animals and I always make a point of dropping in to the farm (it’s free entry) whenever I have a spare few minutes. Getting up, close and personal with goats, chickens, sheep and cows always makes me feel really happy! On this trip I took my Current Beau and we wandered around chatting about animals and hiding in the chicken shed from the periodical rain (side note, can winter finish now, please?). CB works with animals and knew exactly how to interact with all the inhabitants of Freightliners, resulting in one particularly friendly goat who didn’t want us to leave. CUTE!
My beliefs and ethics are a pretty integral part of my life and the majority of my friends are also vegetarian or vegan – so it makes sense that farms in London are one of my favourite hanging-out destinations. I’ve been about 4 times this year already… it doesn’t hurt that it’s 10 minutes from my door and right by my favourite cafe either!
Coat – ancient Topshop. Dress – £23, vintage 1950s from Andersons. Boots – £12, vintage, Absolute Vintage.
I love this! It must be nice to be able to reconnect with nature and animals in the middle of a large city.

The little goats are SO cute! I love that your new man is vegan – I’m sure we’d get on well :) I actually find farms / zoos or whatever really disturbing. Obviously I love to see the animals but I think farms are romanticised to children who go and pet the animals and then eat them for lunch. I think they help perpetuate this false idea that you can “love” animals and still eat them. Glad you had a nice day though and I LOVE your furry coat!
