It was my birthday last week and as I’ve already documented my thoughts on the whole thing, it’s time to share what I actually did! My birth “day” actually spanned about 5 days as I had gigs before and after the day itself, plus a big meal/pub night with all my pals at the weekend.
The day started with a prolific trip to the vegan bakery in Camden, followed by a wander round the markets and then we went to Covent Garden where we bumped into these magical birthday horses! I probably spent about 15 minutes crying with love at these gorgeous animals (HORSES!!!) before CB pointed out that we were there to buy birthday stuff from the Moomin Shop. CB was actually knocking around for the whole day – not that you can tell from these carefully selected photos. We were joined by a few others for dinner at Mildreds in Soho (my favourite veg restaurant), and then us 2 we found a midnight screening of Deadpool in Leicester Square, followed by the pub (OF COURSE).
Additionally as a miracle birthday offering from the internet/Royal Mail, a long-awaited order of vintage clothes finally arrived that morning – so in all these photos I’m wearing my brand new sixties cape! I’d never thought about capes before, but when I came across this one I just kind of gravitated towards it without thinking too much. I’m not sure it’s the most flattering item but it’s certainly evocative. Also, it’s PINK PRINCE OF WALES TWEED. What is there really to think about? CB had a 60s tweed jacket in the same parcel, so we spent the whole day being stared at with numerous shop assistants/passers-by asking if we were off to some sort of retro function. Nah, we’re just well-dressed mate! And that was my 2016 birthday. X
glad that you had a great day, at least it sounds fabulous! and i love your cape, so beautiful! xxx

What. A. Cape. Also, the joy on your wee face at seeing the horses has absolutely made my day.
I still treasure the Miffy backpack I got in Covent Garden market on my first ever visit to London, half a bloody lifetime ago.
