I’ve talked about my love for Sailor Moon before, and to be honest I could have written another two posts purely on the amount of Sailor Moon items I own. This post doesn’t include stationary, DVDs (I actually need to donate these seeing as everything is online now), clothes, manga or books, of which there are A LOT. Today we’ll be noseying through my accessories collection!
I have to admit – I’m always a little wary of publishing these kinds of posts. I have enough guilt at being part of this crazy consumerist society without airing the mounds of stuff I own on the internet for all to see! I’m so aware of the amount of non-disposable junk in the world and the damage it does, and I hate to be complicit in that. In practise this means I rarely buy things I don’t really need, I avoid buying duplicates and I also hate things that don’t have a use, as you may have noticed from previous “stuff I own” posts. So I’ll be explaining how I use these things and where they cam from as we go through the post!
I’ve got about 5 bags and this came from Harajaku whilst in Japan last year. Japan was a treasure trove for Sailor Moon goodies and I really had to reign myself in! The bottom bag (?pouch? case?) is a christmas present I use for pens and pencils in rehearsals and the top one (Camden Market) lives in my car with spare guitar strings, plectrums and a tuner… not the most glamorous of uses but it works. The hair tie also came into my life at Christmas time – I tie my hair up every night so I don’t accidentally strangle myself in my sleep.
The Sailor Moon section of my jewellery box is about half the entire thing and the top set of necklaces is probably the most indulgent, ridiculous purchase I have ever made. I’ll just own up to it now! I bought this box of necklaces (they represent the wands of the main Scouts) when I was about 16, with probably my third or fourth ever paycheck after seeing them on Amazon for £18.99 (roughly half of said paycheck). Even at the time I tossed and turned thinking “that’s a lot and there’s no way I need 8 different Sailor Moon necklaces”. What can I say, extravagance won out that day.
The middle necklace is a choker (my only choker!) and a replica of the one Serena wears as Sailor Moon. One of my dear friends designed and made it for me via 3D printing techniques. The bottom one you’ve seen before – it was a Christmas present!
Top left is a replica of the bow/badge combination that Usagi wears and is the second most-used item in my life, second only to my phone. I got it from Japan last year and it’s already starting to break as it just gets tossed into my bag on a daily basis – it’s my Oyster card holder!
The compact badge replica (Christmas) below is the only mirror I use regularly – I don’t have a mirror in my room so I use this one if needed – and the cloth is microfibre for cleaning my glasses (also Christmas but from Camden Market)! I’m the worst at keeping my glasses smudge free (anyone else guilty of just wiping theirs on their shirt? So bad for the glass) so I try to pack this whenever I’m leaving the house to inspire me (because the ability of sight isn’t inspiration enough, apparently).
If you’re an SM fan then you’ve probably seen the Sailor Moon eyeliner wands on Instagram before! These are yet another Japan purchase from last year (my suitcase was RAMMED). After I saw one of my friends with one, it took me about 2 hours to find out whether they’re cruelty free and then almost the rest of my trip to track them down in a shop because they’d sold out everywhere! Eyeliner is basically the only make-up I actually wear so you can imagine my frenzied attempts to try and procure this dream item. These earrings were another christmas present and again, are a replica of the ones Sailor Moon wears.
So there we go! Do you have any collections? If you want to get your hands on any of the above you can try DreamyBows (although the import price is insane, it’s probably cheaper than going to Japan), Glitterbomb or I find Camden Market is quite good – or let me know if there’s demand for chokers and I’ll get my friend to print some more!

not related to sailor moon, but when i had my hair long i used to tie it up at night so i wouldn’t strangle myself while sleeping and no-one understood this!! and i genuinely felt panicky if i woke up with hair around my neck, haha. anyway, although i basically know nothing of sailor moon, i always see accessories and other things and they’re just so pretty! xxx
