Hey guys! Some exciting news! I’m heading to Helsinki at the end of this month. I’m so excited! I’ve wanted to go for a long time and have been bookmarking places to visit for well over a year.
Helsinki is such a beautiful city (seriously!!) and I can’t wait to see it for myself! I’m so excited to be near the sea, visit some of the countries islands and lakes, stroll through some beautiful parks and explore the famous design district. I’m also a huge fan of the Finnish novelist and artist Tove Jansson, best known as the creator of the Moomins. I’m sure a few of you must be Moomin fans as well, or perhaps you’ve read some of her wonderful books? Her work is articulate, philosophical, incisive and wise: she’s been an inspiration of mine for years. I’m excited to see some of the places Tove lived and worked, and visit some of her artwork in real life.
I’ve compiled a BIG list of places to visit but I’d like to ask you guys for some recommendations if you have any?! I’m particularly interested in vegan places, anywhere Tove-related and places to score vintage clothes. Let me know! Meanwhile I’m off to see if I can pack my Moomin ears and flower crowns whilst still retaining some space for souvenirs…

Hi If you like good design this is the must go place in Helsinki to visit. Really amazing. Not sure why they say it’s 1.5 hours outside the city because it didn’t take us that long on the bus.
The other brilliant place is Suomenlinna island in the harbour. It’s an interesting boat ride from the Quay and a perfect place to chill out.

Welcome.
Helsinki is enjoyable, but if time visit also outside it. One example: in one hour by bus, you can visit Porvoo with its charming old town.

YAAY! Helsinki is awesome! I’m trying to think of some recs but I’m always with family and just blinding following along. One thing I really love is the market in the square on the water (could I BE more VAUGUE?) oh, I think it’s just called Market Square. Great place to get gifts. Can’t wait to see and hear about your trip!
